New Minister for Harris
The Lord willing our Harris Congregation is shortly to be settled with a Minister, following a vacancy of twelve years. At a recent meeting of the Presbytery of the Outer Hebrides, Rev. Iain Smith accepted a unanimous Call from the congregation to be their Pastor.
Mr Smith, who is originally from Point, was formerly minister of Partick Free Church. After nine years in Glasgow he ministered for a further twelve years in the Hobart (Tasmania) Congregation of the Southern Presbyterian Church in Australia, before returning to Scotland last year.
Arrangements are now being finalised, with the induction due to take place on Friday 6th May in Leverburgh Free Church (kindly loaned). Further details will be made available in due course. We give thanks to the Lord for this encouraging development and ask for the prayers of His people for His blessing upon the preparations, and especially upon the Minister and Congregation.
