Portree Psalmody Class

Date: Wednesday, 30 October 2013
Author: Rev Richard R Ross
The Free Presbytery of Skye and Lochcarron (Continuing) held a Psalmody Class recently in Portree Free Church hall. The class was superbly tutored by Rev Bill & Mrs Isobel Scott.
We began at 11.30am with a workshop for precentors and other adults. We learned tunes such as Warwick, Ericstane, and Ayrshire. Mrs Scott even managed to teach the men to sing the bass part of Dunfermline!
At the end of the adults workshop, we were treated to Rev Bill Scott showing some slides from their recent visit to Reformed churches in Spain.
A good number of folk stayed to enjoy some fellowship over lunch.
In the afternoon, a workshop for young people was held. Mrs Scott taught the youngsters some tunes, and both young and old completed worksheets. A profitable and happy time was had by all.
We are thankful to Rev & Mrs Scott for travelling up to help us, and for the faithful folk of the congregations of Portree, Snizort, Lochalsh & Strath and Waternish for venturing out on such a wild day.
