The annual Free Southern Presbytery Colloquium was held in Knightswood last Saturday.

The inclement weather affected the turnout and the programme as one of the speakers was unable to attend.

The day began when Rev Calum Smith, minister of Knightswood FC(C), delivered his paper ‘Christian Hope’ to an appreciative audience.

Following a Q&A session and break Rev James I Gracie, Edinburgh FC(C) presented his lecture on the importance of preaching biblically from the Old Testament. Mr Gracie stood in at short notice to replace Rev E Trevor Kirkland, who was unable to travel from Northern Ireland and speak on his appointed subject, ’Thoughts on Preaching’.

The Q&A session following Mr Gracie’s lecture.

After lunch retired minister Rev David S Fraser spoke on ‘Heaven’ to bring the Colloquium to a happy conclusion.

Thanks was expressed to the event organiser Rev William Macleod, the speakers for their interesting and edifying lectures, the minister and Deacon’s Court of Knightswood for hosting the event, and to Mrs Sohana McKenzie for overseeing tea/coffee and refreshments.

It is expected that audio recordings of the lectures will appear in due course.
