ADVISORY PANEL ON BUILDING PROJECTS

The 2011 General Assembly appointed a Special Committee on Building Projects to devise a detailed strategy for the construction of a modular church building (or buildings).

The 2017 General Assembly re-designated the Committee as the Advisory Panel on Building Projects.

ASSEMBLY ARRANGEMENTS & NOMINATIONS COMMITTEE

A Standing Committee of Assembly responsible for practical arrangements for the General Assembly and for collating recommendations from Presbyteries for appointments to Church committees.

ECUMENICAL RELATIONS COMMITTEE

A Standing Committee of Assembly responsible for exploring, fostering and maintaining relationships with other reformed and presbyterian churches.

FINANCE & SUSTENTATION COMMITTEE

A Standing Committee of Assembly responsible for the oversight of the Church's finances in general, including ministers' stipends.

HOME & FOREIGN MISSIONS COMMITTEE

A Standing Committee of Assembly responsible for the Church's missionary work at home and abroad.

LEGAL ADVICE & PROPERTY COMMITTEE

A Standing Committee of Assembly responsible for the legal interests of the Church, especially in relation to church buildings, manses and other property.

PRESBYTERY BOUNDARIES COMMITTEE

A Special Committee of Assembly appointed by the 2016 General Assembly as follows: "to consider and provide advice to the General Assembly of 2017 anent –

1. The rationale behind Presbytery boundaries

2. The principles regarding the treatment of Congregations furth of Scotland

3. The best way of providing Presbyterial provision for Congregations currently outwith the Bounds of a Presbytery, together with any practical observations thereanent."

PSALMODY COMMITTEE

A Special Committee of Assembly responsible for Psalmody in general, including the Psalmody Test.

PUBLIC QUESTIONS, RELIGION & MORALS COMMITTEE

A Standing Committee of Assembly responsible for representing the Church's view on matters of spiritual and moral concern to government and other churches.

PUBLICATIONS COMMITTEE

A Standing Committee of Assembly responsible for the Church magazines, Church Directory and other publications, also the Church website and Spring Conference.

REVIEW OF ACTS OF ASSEMBLY COMMITTEE (Discharged 2013)

A Special Committee of Assembly appointed by the 2001 General Assembly “to continue, in consultation with Standing and Special Committees in so far as legislation bears on those Committees, consideration of Assembly legislation requiring repeal or amendment”.

The 2013 General Assembly discharged the Committee and appointed a consultative group with the same personnel "to advise the clerks of Standing and Special Committees, at their request, on proposals for the review and updating of Assembly legislation relevant to the work of their Committees".

STRATEGIC REVIEW COMMITTEE (Discharged 2017)

A Special Committee of Assembly appointed by the 2014 General Assembly as follows: "to consult with all Presbyteries and Standing and Special Committees of Assembly so as to coordinate and document their vision and views on the future requirements of the Church within their own bounds and sphere of responsibility, the Committee to report on progress to the 2015 General Assembly and submit a final report to the 2016 General Assembly, the Committee to be composed of a Minister and Elder from each Scottish Presbytery with the Principal Clerk and General Treasurer as Advisers".

The 2017 General Assembly discharged the Committee.

STRATEGY COMMITTEE (Abolished 2014)

A Standing Committee of Assembly appointed by the 2003 General Assembly responsible for matters of general concern to the Church and tending to cover the remits of several committees.

The Committee was abolished by the 2014 General Assembly which appointed a Special Committee anent Strategic Review as follows: "to consult with all Presbyteries and Standing and Special Committees of Assembly so as to coordinate and document their vision and views on the future requirements of the Church within their own bounds and sphere of responsibility, the Committee to report on progress to the 2015 General Assembly and submit a final report to the 2016 General Assembly, the Committee to be composed of a Minister and Elder from each Scottish Presbytery with the Principal Clerk and General Treasurer as Advisers".

TRAINING OF THE MINISTRY & ADMISSIONS COMMITTEE

A Standing Committee of Assembly responsible for the approval of students for the ministry and their academic training, the processing of applications from ministers of other churches and the oversight of the Free Church Seminary.

WELFARE OF YOUTH & EDUCATION COMMITTEE

A Standing Committee of Assembly responsible for the Sabbath School & Bible Class Syllabus and other aspects of the Christian nurture of our young people.
