The Westminster Confession of Faith

The Westminster Confession of Faith was drawn up by the Westminster Assembly which met from 1643-48. It was approved by the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland in 1647. Office-bearers must subscribe to the Confession as the confession of their own faith.

The Shorter Catechism

The Shorter Catechism was drawn up by the Westminster Assembly which met from 1643-48. It was approved by the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland in 1648 “to be a directory for catechising such as are of a weaker capacity.” It has 107 questions and answers.

The Larger Catechism

The Larger Catechism was drawn up by the Westminster Assembly which met from 1643-48. It was approved by the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland in 1648 “to be a directory for catechising such as have made some proficiency in the knowledge of the grounds of religion.” It has 196 questions and answers.
