Fourth Colloquium Report

Date: Monday, 06 June 2016
Author: Rev Andrew R Allan

An encouraging number attended the Southern Presbytery’s fourth Colloquium held last Saturday at Knightswood Free Church of Scotland (Continuing), Glasgow.

Organiser Rev Gavin Beers, Ayr, was delighted to see a sizeable increase in the number of men attending, and to welcome brethren from another denomination, who were attending for the first time.

Partick minister Rev Andrew R Allan was first to speak when he delivered his paper on church principles entitled ‘Purity of Worship’. Knightswood minister Rev William Macleod followed when he presented his theological paper entitled ‘Aspects of the Person of Christ’. Following lunch probationer Rev Murdo Maciver preached a sermon from 1 Timothy 1:12-13 entitled, ‘'Fearful Sinner to Faithful Servant.’

After each minister spoke there was a lively and informative question and answer session and further discussion around the themes presented.

The aims of the Colloquiums are to be a means of strengthening the doctrine, practice and fellowship within our Presbytery and beyond.

It is expected that another Colloquium will be held in December on a date to be announced.

All the talks were recorded and will be posted on the FC(C) website in due course.
