Official Opening of Aberdeen Church

Date: Tuesday, 12 September 2017
Author: Rev Timothy J McGlynn

At 2.00pm on Saturday 2nd September a congregation of around eighty gathered to give thanks for the provision of the church building in Aberdeen.

The Rev Henry J T Woods (Moderator of the Inverness Presbytery) opened in prayer for the proceedings and the work of the congregation from the new building in the days and years ahead.

Rev Timothy J McGlynn, the minister of the Aberdeen congregation, led proceedings and gave a short account of the events surrounding the purchase of the building in Mastrick. Reflecting the address of the new premises, he noted the “Long Walk” from the days of Tony and Sandra Horne, Duncan Macdonald and others, through the ministry of Rev David Blunt, until the purchase of the church building earlier this year.

Rev Maurice J Roberts preached from Titus 2:11-12 with clarity and sincerity, challenging the congregation to uphold true religion and live lives of holiness.

Following the benediction everyone gathered for a group photograph to give a pictorial record of the day and then a buffet was provided for all those who had gathered.

As the ladies of the congregation set to work ensuring all went smoothly the guests enjoyed the good things provided.

Rev Murdo A N Macleod (Snizort) and Mr McGlynn preached to the congregation from Numbers Chapter 2 and Hebrews 13:13 respectively on the Lord’s Day. The Lord had been in the midst throughout all that was done and to Him be all the glory and praise.
