Presentation To Aultbea Minister
Around two dozen people gathered at Bualnaluib School, Aultbea, last Thursday night, to formally say farewell to the Rev Andrew R Allan, who has been minister of the Poolewe & Aultbea Free Church of Scotland (Continuing) for the past five and a half years.
Mr. Allan has accepted a Call to the Partick congregation and will be inducted into his new charge on Saturday 3rd May.
The evening began when elder Mr. Murdo MacDonald welcomed all present. Then followed the singing of Psalm 116:1-8, after which the Rev A James MacInnes, Lochalsh & Strath, who has been appointed the congregation's Interim Moderator, led in prayer.
Elder Mr. Alasdair MacKenzie read from Exodus 14:1-18 and brought encouraging words applicable to the congregation and departing minister from verse 15, where the Lord told the people of Israel to go forward and trust in the Lord despite their outward difficulties. Psalms 84:6-12 was sung and Resident Lay Agent Mr. Donald Robertson, Kyleakin, closed the formal part of the evening in prayer and gave thanks for the refreshments provided.
After enjoying a sumptuous tea Mr. MacKenzie presented a framed photograph of Aultbea, taken by local man Donald MacKenzie (The Post), and a handsome cheque to Mr. Allan; Mr. MacKenzie's wife Moira presented the minister's wife Debbie with a gift token and church member Mrs Katie Wiseman presented the Allan's daughter Katie with a gift to remind her of her stay in Aultbea.
Mr Allan was invited to respond and thanked all for coming and their generosity.
The evening drew to a close with the singing of Psalm 133 and Benediction.
Mr Allan formally concludes his ministry in Aultbea when he preaches at both services on 20th April.
